Transformation, not attendance
The impact we want to create
We will measure success not simply by how many young people attend, but by who they become as a result of the experience.
- Disconnection to Belonging
- Cultural uncertainty to Identity
- Isolation to Community
- Passive consumption to Creativity
- Risk to Resilience
- Limited exposure to Possibility
- Receiving to Serving
- Spectators to Contributors
What we will measure
- Sense of identity and cultural knowledge.
- Belonging, social connectedness and positive peer relationships.
- Confidence, leadership and communication skills.
- Emotional literacy, resilience and healthy decision-making.
- Knowledge of substance-use risks and protective behaviours.
- Practical, digital, financial and entrepreneurial skills.
- Participation in volunteering, service and community life.
- Aspirations, career awareness and connection to opportunities across Africa and the diaspora.
How change happens
Our theory of change
- If
we create safe and inclusive spaces where young people connect with peers, explore identity, learn practical skills, experience different cultures, discuss wellbeing and develop leadership;
- And if
we connect diaspora youth with communities and young people across Africa through meaningful cultural exchange and service;
- Then
young people can develop stronger identity, confidence, belonging, resilience, skills and social networks;
- Contributing to
healthier choices, stronger communities, greater cultural understanding, improved opportunities and more engaged young African citizens.
When young people know their roots, they can stand confidently in the world – and make a difference.
